SIRIUS S2 Power Contactor — 22 kW AC-2 at 400 V
The Siemens 3RT1036-1AV04 is a SIRIUS S2-frame power contactor rated for 22 kW at 400 V in AC-2 duty (slip-ring motor starting) and 41 A in AC-4 duty (plugging/inching). The screw-type main terminals accept stranded conductors up to 2x 25 mm², and the control circuit draws 10 A at 24 V rated value. Mounting is via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 50022, with side-by-side mounting permitted.
Ratings and Application Context
The AC-2 rating of 22 kW at 400 V defines the contactor's capability for slip-ring motor applications where starting current is moderate. The AC-4 rating of 41 A at 400 V covers severe switching duty such as plugging and inching of squirrel-cage motors. For AC-3 direct-on-line starting, the maximum mechanical operating rate is 800 1/h, while AC-4 duty limits to 300 1/h. The contactor is rated for pollution degree 3, suitable for industrial environments with conductive pollution.
Environmental and Compliance
Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with storage from -55 to +80 °C. The contactor carries IP20 protection on the front and IP00 at the terminals. Termination and Wiring
Main current circuit uses screw-type terminals. Solid wire capacity: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), max. 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). Stranded wire: 2x (0.75 to 25 mm²). Minimum permissible conductor size at 40 °C is 16 mm². The S2 frame measures 55 mm width, 112 mm height, and 164 mm depth.
