What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1036-1BM40 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the S2 frame size, designed for switching motor loads in control panels. It's rated for 22 kW at 400 V in AC-2 duty (slip-ring motor starting) and 41 A in AC-4 duty (plugging/inching), with a 30 kW rating at 500 V for standard squirrel-cage motors. The screw-type main terminals accept stranded wire up to 2x 25 mm², and the coil draws 10 A at 24 V DC.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, or can be screw-mounted. At 55 mm wide and 112 mm tall, it fits standard panel layouts with side-by-side mounting permitted — no derating gap needed. The front face carries an IP20 rating; the terminals themselves are IP00, so keep fingers and tools clear when live. Operating range is -25 to +60 °C, storage down to -55 °C.
