What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1044-1AN60 is a SIRIUS power contactor in size S3, rated for switching three-phase motor loads. It carries 37 kW at 500 V and 18.6 kW at 690 V in AC-3 duty, which covers the bulk of standard induction motors in industrial panels. The main circuit uses screw-type terminals, and the coil is 24 VDC (10 A pick-up at 24 V).
Mounting and panel fit
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm and 75 mm standard DIN rail. Dimensions: 146 mm high, 70 mm wide, 139 mm deep. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so you can gang multiple contactors without spacing — useful for grouping motor starters in a tight enclosure. The front face carries IP20 protection with the cover or box terminal installed; the terminal area itself is IP00, so keep live parts behind a panel door.
Wire terminations
Main circuit terminals accept solid wire from 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) up to max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²), and stranded wire from 2x (2.5 to 16 mm²) or 2x (10 to 50 mm²). That covers everything from control-circuit pigtails to motor feeder cables. The solid-wire range is tight on the small end — fine for standard panel wiring with ferrules.
