SIRIUS S3 Power Contactor — 3RT1045-1AG24
It is rated for operation at 50 Hz and 60 Hz supply frequencies, per the datasheet. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so multiple contactors can be ganged without mandatory spacing gaps. The main circuit uses screw-type terminals, with a solid conductor capacity of 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), and up to 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). Stranded conductors accept 2x (10 to 50 mm²). This range covers typical power wiring from control-circuit sizes up to main feeder cables.
Duty Ratings and Switching Frequency
Motor power ratings are specified per standard utilization categories: at 50 Hz, 110 V the contactor switches 45 kW; at 60 Hz, 110 V the rating is also 45 kW. At 690 V, 50 Hz, the motor power rating is 21.1 kW. These figures align with the S3 frame size and confirm the contactor is sized for medium-horsepower motor control. AC-1 allows up to 900 operations per hour; AC-3 permits 1,000 ops/h; AC-4 is limited to 300 ops/h. AC-2 maximum is 400 ops/h.
Environmental and Protection Ratings
Front protection is IP20 with the cover or box terminal installed, which prevents finger contact with live parts during normal operation. The terminal area itself is rated IP00, so the panel builder must ensure that the enclosure provides additional protection against tool or wire contact.
Auxiliary contact ratings are provided for DC switching: at 24 V rated value 10 A, at 60 V rated value 2 A, at 110 V rated value 1 A, at 220 V rated value 0.3 A. For AC-15 (solenoid/contactor coil) duty at 230 V, the rating is 6 A; at 400 V, 3 A. These values define the maximum current the auxiliary contacts can break in inductive DC or AC control circuits.
