Mounting and integration
The 3RT1046-1AM00-1AA0: Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm or 75 mm standard DIN rail. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, which keeps panel layouts dense. The enclosure is IP20 on the front with the cover or box terminal fitted; the terminal area itself is IP00, so the panel environment must provide the final ingress protection. Dimensions are 146 mm high, 70 mm wide, and 139 mm deep.
Terminals and wiring
Main current circuit uses screw-type terminals. Solid conductors: accepts 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75 to 4 mm²). Stranded conductors: 2x (10 to 50 mm²). The auxiliary contact block (integrated) is rated 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 230 V, and 3 A at 400 V — these are the switching limits for the built-in aux contacts, not the main poles.
Environmental and compliance
Operates from -25 to +60 °C; stores from -55 to +80 °C. Pollution degree 3 (conductive pollution or dry non-conductive pollution that becomes conductive due to condensation). RoHS compliance date is May 1, 2012, which covers the EU RoHS recast. The contactor is rated for 50 Hz systems.
Switching performance and life
Mechanical life is typical 10 million operations. Maximum switching rates: 900 cycles/hour at AC-1 (resistive), 850 at AC-3 (squirrel-cage motors), 350 at AC-2, and 250 at AC-4. Arcing time is 10 to 25 ms at AC, with a narrower 10 to 15 ms typical window. The operating voltage range factor is 0.8 to 1.1 at 50 Hz, so the coil holds in down to 80% of rated voltage.
Power dissipation
Dissipates 37 W at 1000 V — a figure to include in thermal panel calculations when the contactor is continuously energized.
