What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1054-1XJ46-0LA2 is a SIRIUS contactor in size S6, built for switching motor loads in control panels. It carries six main contacts and includes an auxiliary switch, so it handles both power and feedback in one package. The DC coil is rated at 72 V, with a pickup time of 80 to 90 ms and an arcing time of 10 to 15 ms — numbers you want when coordinating with upstream protection.
Mounting and wiring
Screw fixing is the fastening method, and the mounting position allows a vertical surface with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt front-to-back. Clearance needs: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm downwards, 20 mm forwards, and 10 mm at the sides. The main terminals accept stranded cable up to 2x 70 mm², and the auxiliary terminals handle solid or stranded wire from 0.5 to 4 mm². One 9 mm hole is provided for mounting.
Duty cycles and ratings
Maximum switching frequency varies by duty: 800 operations per hour at AC-1 (resistive), 1 000 at AC-3 (standard motor starting), and 130 at AC-4 (plugging/inching). For DC loads, it's 400/h at DC-1, 500/h at DC-3, and 500/h at DC-5. The auxiliary contacts are rated at 6 A at 24 V DC, 2 A at 48 V, and 2 A at 60 V. Typical mechanical life is 10 million operations.
