What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1054-3AV36 is a SIRIUS power contactor in size S6, designed for switching motor loads and resistive loads in industrial control panels. It carries a 380-420 V AC coil and uses spring-type terminals on the magnet coil, with screw fixing for panel mounting. The contactor includes an auxiliary switch. Arcing time is 10-15 ms, and operating times are 40-60 ms for both AC and DC.
What the ratings mean for fit
The coil is rated 380-420 V AC, which is a standard European 400 V line voltage. If your control voltage differs, you'll need a different coil variant — this is not a universal coil contactor. Switching frequency varies by duty: up to 1,000 operations per hour at AC-3 (motor starting), 800 at AC-1 (resistive), 400 at AC-2 (slip-ring motors), and 130 at AC-4 (plugging/inching). The AC-3e rating matches the AC-3 figure. For high-cycle applications like conveyor indexing, the AC-3 limit is the one to watch.
Mounting and wiring
Mounting is by screw fixing, not snap-on DIN rail. The mounting position allows vertical mounting surface with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt front/back. Clearance requirements: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm downwards, 10 mm at the side, 20 mm forwards. Power terminals accept stranded wire 16-70 mm². The auxiliary / coil terminals accept solid or stranded 2x (0.25-2.5 mm²). Spring-type terminals on the magnet coil mean no screw torqueing on the coil connection — just strip and insert.
