SIRIUS Size S6 Power Contactor, 160 A Frame
The Siemens 3RT1054-6QP35 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the Size S6 frame, rated for 160 A at 24 V on the main poles. The coil is wound for 200-277 V AC, with screw-type terminals on the magnet coil and an integrated auxiliary switch. This is a current-production part, not a phase-out line — it remains in the active catalog for new panel builds and BOM-frozen spares alike. The contactor measures 172 mm high by 140 mm wide by 170 mm deep, mounts via screw fixing, and accepts power-circuit stranded conductors from 25 mm² up to 120 mm². The enclosure rating is IP00 overall, with IP20 on the front when the cover or box terminal is fitted — standard for panel-mount contactors where the enclosure provides the environmental seal.
Duty Ratings and Switching Rates
The 160 A figure at 24 V is the rated operational current for the main contacts under the contactor's specified duty. Switching rates vary by utilization category: 800 cycles/hour in AC-1 (resistive loads), 400 in AC-2 (slip-ring motors), 1,000 in AC-3 (squirrel-cage motors — the common motor-starting duty), and 130 in AC-4 (plugging/inching). The arcing time is 10-15 ms; operate time is 80-90 ms on both AC and DC coil supplies. Mechanical life is rated at 10 million operating cycles typical. The contactor operates in ambient temperatures from -25 °C to +55 °C and can be stored from -55 °C to +80 °C. Maximum installation altitude is 2,000 m without derating. Mounting position allows vertical surface mounting with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt forward/backward.
Panel Integration and Wiring
The screw-type coil terminals accept solid conductors: 2x (0.5-1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75-2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75-4 mm²). The power circuit uses stranded conductors from 25 to 120 mm² — sized for the 160 A frame. Minimum clearance distances: 10 mm upward, 10 mm downward, 20 mm forward, 10 mm at the sides. The auxiliary switch is built in, saving a separate aux block on the DIN rail.
