Size S10 power contactor – main circuit wiring and mounting
The 3RT1064-6AS36 is a SIRIUS size S10 power contactor. Main circuit terminals accept stranded conductors from 70 mm² up to 240 mm² — that covers the heavy bus or large cable needed for a 265 A AC-3 motor circuit without a separate lug kit. Fastening is screw fixing with a single 11 mm diameter mounting hole. Auxiliary switch block is present; the magnet coil termination is screw-type terminals.
Switching duty cycle and thermal limits
Rated switching frequency varies by duty: 750 ops/h at AC-1 (resistive), 500 ops/h at AC-3 and AC-3e (motor start/run), 250 ops/h at AC-2 (slip-ring motor), and 130 ops/h at AC-4 (plugging/inching). The AC-4 ceiling is the binding constraint for reversing or jogging applications — stay under 130 cycles per hour or the contactor core temperature climbs beyond the design limit. The 0.8 initial pickup factor and 1.1 full-scale factor mean the coil must see at least 80 % of rated voltage to pull in reliably, and the dropout threshold is 90 % of rated voltage — important for brownout coordination. The 10 mm clearance to adjacent parts upward, downward, and sideways, plus 20 mm forward must be maintained for natural convection cooling at the full switching frequency.
Auxiliary contact ratings and coil data
These are the make/break current limits for the control circuit — a PLC output driving a 24 VDC relay coil through this auxiliary contact sees a comfortable margin at 10 A. Mechanical life of the contactor is typical 10 million operations.
