Sizing the panel around an S10 frame
The 3RT1065-6AR36 is a Siemens SIRIUS power contactor in the S10 frame size, measuring 210 mm high by 145 mm wide by 202 mm deep. Mounting is by screw fixing through a single 11 mm hole, with the contactor body rotatable ±90° on a vertical surface and tiltable ±22.5° front-to-back. This gives the panel builder flexibility in tight enclosures, though the main power cables — stranded 70 to 240 mm² — will dictate the minimum bending radius in the gland plate layout.
Switching duty and operating rhythm
The contactor's switching frequency varies sharply by duty class: 800 operations per hour in AC-1 (resistive), 500 in AC-3 (motor starting/running), and 130 in AC-4 (plugging/inching). The AC-3e rating also sits at 500 ops/h. For a conveyor line running a motor start every 7 seconds, that 500 ops/h ceiling is the hard limit — exceeding it risks contact welding from inadequate off-time between arcs. These numbers matter for coordination with upstream short-circuit protection and for sequencing multiple contactors in a star-delta or reversing starter — the delay spread means the downstream PLC must allow at least 80 ms between a de-energise command and the next energise command to avoid a clash.
Coil termination and auxiliary contacts
An auxiliary switch is included as standard. For an AC control circuit feeding a PLC input, those ratings are generous; for a DC24V interlock chain, the 10 A rating means the auxiliary contacts can drive multiple relay coils in parallel without a contact multiplier.
Lifecycle and procurement posture
The lifecycle stage is listed as current — meaning the manufacturer continues to produce this order code without a published end-of-life notice. In a high-cycle application (say 500 ops/h, 16 h/day), that translates to roughly 3.4 years of continuous service before the mechanical wear limit — though the electrical life under AC-3 or AC-4 duty will be shorter and depends on the switched current and power factor.
