SIRIUS S10 frame — what the envelope tells you
The 3RT1066-6AP36 is a Siemens SIRIUS power contactor in the S10 frame size, standing 210 mm tall, 145 mm wide, and 202 mm deep — the depth includes the coil terminals and arc chamber projection, so budget the full 202 mm behind the panel door when laying out the gland plate. Screw fixing through 11 mm diameter holes is the mounting method — no DIN-rail clip on this frame, so plan for drilled backplate or sub-panel with the hole pattern matching the S10 footprint.
Power and control termination — cable sizing matters
Main power circuit accepts stranded cable from 70 mm² up to 240 mm² — that is a heavy lug range, typical for a contactor this size feeding a motor or transformer bank.
Switching rates and thermal envelope
Rated switching frequency at AC-3 duty (motor switching) is 500 cycles per hour maximum — that is one operation every 7.2 seconds, which covers most pump and conveyor cycling but rules out high-speed jogging or reversing service without stepping up to a larger frame or a dedicated reversing contactor pair. At AC-4 duty (plugging/inching) the ceiling drops to 130 cycles per hour, so if the application requires frequent reversing under load, the thermal rise in the arc chamber will accumulate faster than the 500/h AC-3 rate suggests.
