The 3RT1066-6AP36-ZX95: The 220-240 V AC coil (50/60 Hz) draws its magnetising current from the control transformer; the screw-type coil terminals accept up to 4 mm² stranded or solid wire. The main power path accepts stranded copper from 70 mm² up to 240 mm² — that is a serious conductor cross-section, sized for high-current feeders typical of large motor starters or distribution. The contactor is fastened by screw fixing through an 11 mm hole, not DIN-rail snap-on, so plan the backplate layout accordingly. That helps in tight enclosures where the contactor must sit at an angle to clear busbars or other gear. The wide storage band is typical for SIRIUS gear — it ships fine in unheated warehouses.
Switching frequency and duty-cycle limits
The maximum switching rate depends on the utilisation category: 750 operations/hour in AC-1 (resistive), 500/h in AC-3 (squirrel-cage motor start/run), 250/h in AC-2 (slip-ring motor), and 130/h in AC-4 (plugging/inching). The AC-3e rating also sits at 500/h. These are the contactor's thermal limits — exceeding them shortens life or welds the main poles. Arcing time is 10-15 ms, and the opening/closing times (including bounce) are 40-80 ms for both AC and DC operation. That matters for coordination with upstream short-circuit protection — the total clearing time of the fuse or MCCB must account for the contactor's arcing window. The contactor includes an auxiliary switch block (1 NO + 1 NC typical for S10), which can be wired for feedback to the PLC or for electrical interlocking.
Clearance and wiring space
Physical envelope: 210 mm high, 145 mm wide, 202 mm deep. That is a large contactor — the S10 frame is the biggest in the SIRIUS line, so verify the enclosure depth before committing. The forward clearance is the tightest — 20 mm is barely enough for the main cable lugs and the arc chute. The main power terminals accept 70-240 mm² stranded copper — that is a single large cable per pole or parallel smaller cables. The auxiliary terminals accept 0.5-1.5 mm² solid or 0.75-2.5 mm² stranded, up to 4 mm² maximum. Use ferrules on stranded wire for reliable termination in the screw cages.
