Vacuum contactor construction means the arc is quenched in a sealed vacuum bottle — no contact erosion from open-air arcing, so the electrical life on AC-3 duty is rated for 10 million typical operations. Coil is screw-type terminals, rated 440-480 V AC. The contactor accepts stranded cable from 70 mm² up to 240 mm² on the main power circuit.
The 3RT1264-6AR36 carries separate maximum switching rates per duty class: 800 operations per hour in AC-1 (resistive loads), 300/h in AC-2 (slip-ring motors), 750/h in AC-3 and AC-3e (squirrel-cage motors — normal starting), and 250/h in AC-4 (plugging/reversing/inching). The AC-4 rate is the binding constraint for applications requiring frequent reversals or jogging; if your cycle calls for more than 250 ops/h in that regime, this contactor is too slow — step up to a larger frame or parallel contactors.
Fastening is screw fixing (not DIN-rail snap-on) through a single 11 mm hole. The 210 mm height, 145 mm width, 206 mm depth fit a standard 600 mm deep enclosure with room for cable bending radius on the 240 mm² stranded tails.
Coil and auxiliary contact details
Pick-up voltage threshold is 0.8 x rated value (so 352 V minimum at the low end of the 440 V range). Drop-out and arcing times: 40-80 ms on AC, 40-80 ms on DC. Arcing time itself is 10-15 ms. For auxiliary contact ratings: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V. Solid/stranded auxiliary wiring accepts 2x 0.5-1.5 mm², 2x 0.75-2.5 mm², or max 2x 0.75-4 mm².
