SIRIUS S10 vacuum contactor — what this 3RT1265-6LA06 is
Rated 240 A at 480 V in AC-3 duty, this contactor handles the motor starting current of medium-horsepower pumps, compressors, and conveyors without the arc-erosion wear that air-break contacts see at these currents. The vacuum interrupter technology means the arc is quenched in a sealed vacuum bottle — contact life is typically 10 million mechanical operations, making it a fit for high-cycle applications like material handling or frequent start-stop conveyors.
Mounting, wiring, and panel fit
Screw fixing through an 11 mm hole — this is a bolt-down contactor, not a DIN-rail snap-on. The footprint is 210 mm high by 145 mm wide by 206 mm deep, so plan the backplate layout accordingly. Mounting position is flexible: vertical surface with ±22.5° rotation or tilt, or standing on a horizontal surface. That helps when retrofitting into existing enclosures where the gland plate entry angle is fixed. Power wiring accepts stranded cable from 70 mm² up to 240 mm² — that's the range for the main circuit. These are the minimum air gaps to adjacent metalwork or other devices for arc flash containment.
Operating conditions and switching performance
Switching frequency at AC-3 duty is 750 operations per hour maximum; at AC-4 (plugging/inching) it drops to 250 per hour. An auxiliary switch is built in — no need for a separate add-on block for status feedback to the PLC or indicator lamp.
