Vacuum contactor for motor switching in harsh environments
Vacuum contactors extinguish the arc in a sealed vacuum chamber, so the 10-15 ms arcing time stays consistent regardless of ambient air pressure or contamination — a real advantage in high-altitude or dirty environments where open-air contactors derate. The coil accepts 200-277 V AC or DC, with a pickup threshold of 0.8 x rated and a dropout of 0.4 x rated at both 50 and 60 Hz. Operate and release times are 80-100 ms for either supply type, so the contactor behaves identically whether fed from an AC control transformer or a DC bus. Rated for 700 operating cycles per hour in AC-1 resistive duty and 750 cycles per hour in AC-3 motor switching, with a mechanical life of 10 million operations typical. The auxiliary switch is built in, rated 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V or 60 V, and 1 A at 110 V — enough to signal a PLC input or drive a status lamp without an interposing relay.
Mounting and clearances for panel integration
The contactor measures 214 mm high, 160 mm wide, and 225 mm deep. It mounts via screw fixing through a single 11 mm hole. The power terminals accept stranded cable from 70 to 240 mm²; the coil and auxiliary terminals take 2x (0.5-1.5 mm²) solid or stranded, 2x (0.75-2.5 mm²), or max 2x (0.75-4 mm²).
