SIRIUS 3RT1316-2AK60 — 4 NO Power Contactor, Size S00
The Siemens 3RT1316-2AK60 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact Size S00 frame, carrying four normally-open main contacts and using spring-loaded terminals for the main current circuit. It is rated for 4 kW at 400 V in AC-2 duty (slip-ring motor switching) and handles up to 10 A in AC-12 resistive loads. The 45 mm wide body snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022 — no tools needed for the rail, but the spring terminals need a screwdriver for the wire.
What the ratings mean for your panel
The AC-2 rating at 4 kW / 400 V is the figure that governs motor switching for slip-ring or wound-rotor motors — the contactor is designed for the higher inrush and longer arc time those loads present. For resistive or lightly inductive loads (heaters, lighting), the AC-12 rating of 10 A is the ceiling. The 4 NO configuration means this contactor switches four separate power circuits simultaneously; there are no NC auxiliary contacts built in, so if you need a feedback signal to a PLC, you'll add a separate auxiliary contact block on the side. Spring-loaded terminals accept 2x (0.25 to 2.5 mm²) solid or stranded wire, or 2x (24 to 14 AWG). That's a standard control-panel range — fine for motor leads up to 4 kW. The IP20 rating on the front and terminals means it's protected against finger contact but not moisture; mount it inside a cabinet rated for the environment. Pollution degree 3 (conductive pollution) is assumed, so the contactor is suited for industrial enclosures where some dust and condensation are present.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. Side-by-side mounting is permitted, so you can gang multiple contactors without a gap — but check the thermal derating if you pack them tight at full load. The 72 mm depth leaves room for wiring ducts and gland plates in a standard 200 mm deep enclosure. Ambient operating range is -25 to +60 °C; above 40 °C, derate per the thermal curve in the datasheet.
