The 3RT1456-6AB36: The S6 frame size tells you the physical footprint and the current-carrying capacity class; this is the largest standard contactor frame in the SIRIUS range, intended for high-current motor switching in industrial control panels.
The coil is rated for 23-26 V and accepts both AC and DC supply (AC/DC type). That means it can be wired into a 24 VDC control bus or a 24 VAC control transformer without a separate coil rectifier — one part number covers both. Dimensions are 172 mm high, 120 mm wide, 170 mm deep. The 170 mm depth is the key enclosure constraint: it needs a minimum 200 mm deep cabinet to leave room for wiring and arc clearance. Mounting is via screw fixing with a single 9 mm hole. That covers most indoor panel environments; if the panel is near a furnace or in direct sunlight, check the 60 °C ceiling.
Main power circuit accepts stranded conductors from 25 to 120 mm² — that is a heavy cable range, appropriate for the S6 frame's current rating. The contactor has an integrated auxiliary switch and can accept up to 4 additional auxiliary contact blocks. The auxiliary contacts are rated at 10 A at 24 V, derating to 0.3 A at 220 V — typical for control-circuit signalling. Clearance distances: 10 mm above and below, 10 mm sideways, 20 mm forward. These are minimum air gaps for arc quenching and heat dissipation; crowding the contactor reduces its interrupting capacity.
Mounting and Installation
That allows installation in tight enclosures or on swing panels where the contactor must be oriented off-axis. Arcing time is 10-15 ms. That is the duration the arc sustains between main contacts during interruption; coordination with upstream fuses or breakers must account for this window.
The SIRIUS platform has broad installed base and long product lifecycle support.
