What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1466-6PP35 is a SIRIUS S10 frame contactor — the largest standard frame in the SIRIUS contactor family, sized for high-current motor switching and heavy resistive loads in industrial control panels. It's a current-production part, so this is a standard BOM line, not an obsolescence hunt. The main power terminals accept stranded conductors from 70 mm² up to 240 mm², which tells you this contactor is meant for feeder or large motor duty — think 200+ A motor circuits or main bus coupling, not small branch loads.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw fixing with a single 11 mm hole — no DIN rail clip on this frame size, so plan for a bolted backplate or sub-panel. The mounting position is flexible: vertical surface with +/-90° rotation and +/-22.5° tilt front-to-back, which helps when you're shoehorning this into an existing enclosure layout. Dimensions are 210 mm high, 165 mm wide, 202 mm deep — that depth is the key clearance number for enclosure depth selection. Allow 10 mm clearance above and below, 20 mm forward, and 10 mm at the sides for arc flash and cooling.
Coil and auxiliary details
Coil is AC/DC rated 200-277 V, screw-type terminals. Pickup at 80-100 ms for both AC and DC — consistent pull-in timing regardless of supply type. The coil holds at 0.8x rated voltage and drops out at 0.5x (50 Hz) or 0.8-1.1x (60 Hz), so it's tolerant of brownout conditions on 50 Hz mains. Includes an auxiliary switch block (4-pole attachable), which saves ordering a separate aux contact module for basic status feedback. The auxiliary contacts handle 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 230 V, tapering to 0.3 A at 220 V DC — enough for PLC inputs or indicator lamps.
Environmental and lifecycle
Rated for -25 to +60 °C operating, -55 to +80 °C storage — fine for most indoor panel environments, including unheated warehouses. The typical mechanical life is 10 million operations, so this is a fit-and-forget component for normal cycling applications.
