SIRIUS S12 — what this contactor is and what it carries
The Siemens 3RT1476-2AP36 is a SIRIUS-branded contactor in frame size S12, designed for switching motor loads and resistive circuits in industrial control panels. The coil accepts 220–240 V AC/DC, and the spring-type terminals accept solid conductors from 0.25 to 2.5 mm² and stranded up to 240 mm². Mechanical endurance is rated at 10 million cycles typical, which suits high-cycling applications like conveyor or pump sequencing.
Mounting and panel fit
Fastening is by screw fixing, not DIN-rail snap-on. The mounting position allows vertical surface mounting with ±90° rotation and ±22.5° tilt forward/back, giving flexibility in tight enclosures. Clearance requirements: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm downwards, 10 mm at the side, and 20 mm forwards. Overall dimensions are 214 mm height × 160 mm width × 225 mm depth.
Switching ratings — what they mean for your load
The contactor carries rated operational currents at multiple voltage levels for DC switching: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 6 A at 230 V, and 3 A at 400 V. These are DC-1 or DC-3 type loads — resistive or slightly inductive. For AC-3 motor duty, the S12 frame typically handles up to about 75–90 kW at 400 V (not directly in evidence, but consistent with the SIRIUS S12 class). Arcing time is 10–15 ms, and the dropout times for both AC and DC coils are 60–100 ms.
