What it is and what it does
The 3RT1476-6AD36: The S12 frame accommodates power cable terminations up to 240 mm² stranded, so it handles the high-current feeds typical of large motors, transformers, or capacitor banks without needing external terminal adapters. The magnet coil uses screw-type terminals, which means the control wiring is a straightforward field connection — no special crimp tools or push-in adapters required for the 42–48 V AC/DC coil supply.
Mounting and integration
Mounting is via screw fixing through a single 11 mm hole, with the contactor body measuring 214 mm high, 160 mm wide, and 225 mm deep. The mounting position allows rotation up to ±90° on a vertical surface and tilting up to ±22.5° forward/backward, so it fits into tight or non-standard panel layouts. Clearance requirements: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm downwards, 10 mm at the side, and 20 mm forwards. These are the minimum air gaps for heat dissipation and arc containment — respect them in the enclosure layout. Up to four auxiliary contact blocks can be attached, expanding the control-circuit switching capacity. The auxiliary contacts are rated for switching at various control voltages: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 6 A at 230 V.
Environmental and endurance
Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, with storage from -55 to +80 °C. The contactor is rated for 10 million mechanical operations typical, so it suits high-cycle applications like conveyor systems or compressor cycling. Arcing time is 10 to 15 ms, and the contactor's operate/release times are 60 to 100 ms for both AC and DC control supplies — consistent timing for coordination with upstream protection devices.
