The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1916-1CE00 is an RC-element surge suppressor designed to mount directly onto S00-size contactors. It suppresses voltage spikes across the coil terminals, protecting the control circuit and extending contactor life. The RC element handles both AC and DC control supply voltages, rated at 127-240 V for 50/60 Hz AC and 150-250 V DC.
The suppressor clips onto the coil terminals of any SIRIUS S00 contactor (e.g., 3RT1016, 3RT1017 series). It adds roughly the width of the contactor itself — no extra DIN-rail space required. The RC element is polarity-sensitive for DC circuits; verify the coil's free-wheel diode orientation if one is already present, as the suppressor and diode can conflict.
