What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT1916-2CG11 is a SIRIUS timing relay providing an ON-delay function with an adjustable time range of 0.05 to 1 second. It operates on a control supply voltage of 24 to 66 V AC (50/60 Hz) or DC, making it suitable for mixed-voltage control panels common in industrial automation. The relay clips onto a DIN rail (45 mm wide, 38 mm deep, 38 mm high) and can be mounted in any position, which simplifies panel layout and integration. After the ON-delay period elapses, the relay switches its output; the recovery time is 50 ms before the timing circuit can be re-triggered.
What the ratings mean for your panel
The adjustable time range (0.05 to 1 s) covers short delay sequences — for example, staggering motor starts or sequencing pneumatic valves. The 50 ms recovery time means the relay can be re-triggered quickly after the delay expires, which matters in fast-cycling applications. Rated for operation from -25 to +60 °C and storage/transport from -40 to +85 °C, this relay handles typical panel ambient conditions without derating. Basic insulation and pollution degree 3 are specified, so it's suited for industrial environments where conductive dust or condensation may be present.
