The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT1944-5BE42 is a 60 V DC magnet coil designed for Size S3 contactors in the SIRIUS family, using spring-loaded connection technology. It replaces the older coil on a Size S3 contactor frame — the same frame that carries the 3RT1044 power contactor — and is the control-side component that pulls the contactor in and holds it closed.
This part carries a lifecycle stage of "current" but the manufacturer explicitly flags it as a phased-out product. The official successor is the SIRIUS 3RT2 series. The successor 3RT2 series is the recommended forward-fit path for new designs.
What the 60 V DC rating means for the panel
The 60 V DC control voltage is the coil's nominal pick-up and hold rating. On a Size S3 contactor frame the coil draws a closing power of 15 W and a holding power of 15 W (typical for this frame size). The spring-loaded connection accepts solid or stranded conductors — 2x (0.5... 1.5 mm²) and 2x (0.75... 2.5 mm²), max 2x (0.75... 4 mm²) — and the contactor mounts via screw and snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per EN 50022. The IP20 rating on the front means the coil's terminal area is finger-safe inside the enclosure; the contactor's main terminals are IP00, so the panel builder provides the enclosure protection.
