What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT2015-1BA42 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact S00 frame size, designed for switching loads in control panels. It is rated for a 12 V DC coil and carries a 10 A rated operational current at 24 V DC, with lower ratings at higher DC voltages: 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 3 A at 400 V. For motor loads at 230 V, it is rated 0.75 hp. The coil connection uses screw-type terminals, and an integrated auxiliary switch is included.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The mounting position is flexible: +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface, and can be tilted forward/backward by +/-22.5°. Dimensions are 45 mm wide, 58 mm high, and 73 mm deep. Required clearances: 10 mm upwards, downwards, and forwards; 6 mm at the side. Accepts solid or stranded conductors from 0.5 to 4 mm², and up to 2x 4 mm² for multi-conductor terminations.
Switching performance and life
Maximum mechanical service life is 30,000,000 operating cycles. Main contact rated for 20 to 12 million cycles depending on load. Maximum switching frequencies vary by duty: 1,000 1/h for AC-1 (resistive), 750 1/h for AC-2, AC-3, and AC-3e (motor starting/running), and 250 1/h for AC-4 (plugging/inching). Operating time at DC is 7 to 13 ms; arcing time is 10 to 15 ms. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C.
