What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT2016-1AH02 is a SIRIUS power contactor in Size S00, designed for switching motor loads and resistive loads in control panels. Its 24 VDC coil draws a holding current that keeps the contactor engaged across the full operating range of -25 to +60 °C. The 10 A rated operational current at 24 V (AC-1 duty) means it handles resistive loads up to that current; for motor duty (AC-3), the rated current is lower, so size for the actual motor FLA, not the contactor's maximum.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw fixing or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The 45 mm width and 58 mm height fit standard S00 footprint enclosures. Depth of 73 mm leaves clearance for wiring and auxiliary contact blocks. Accepts solid or stranded conductors from 0.5 to 4 mm², with dual-wire capability up to 2x 2.5 mm². Mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface and ±22.5° tilt — flexible for tight panel layouts.
Switching performance and thermal limits
Maximum switching frequency varies by duty: 1 000 operations per hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750/h at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor start/run), and 250/h at AC-4 (plugging/inching). The arcing time is 10 to 15 ms at AC, and the mechanical life of the contactor is typically 30 million operations — a high endurance figure for a Size S00 contactor, suitable for frequent cycling applications. Storage temperature range of -55 to +80 °C covers most warehouse and transport conditions.
