The Siemens 3RT2016-1AP04-3MA0 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the Size S00 frame — the smallest footprint in the family, at 45 mm wide by 58 mm high by 117 mm deep.
Duty cycle and switching frequency — the real constraint
This contactor's switching frequency depends entirely on the load class. At AC-1 (resistive loads) it's rated for up to 1,000 operations per hour. For motor duty — AC-2, AC-3, or AC-3e — that drops to 750 ops/h. AC-4 (plugging, inching) is the hardest on the contacts: 250 ops/h max. The arcing time sits between 10 and 15 ms, and the dropout delay is 4 to 15 ms at AC. If your application cycles faster than these limits, the contactor will overheat or wear prematurely — the spec is the ceiling, not a suggestion.
Auxiliary contact ratings — switching small loads cleanly
The auxiliary contacts on this variant are rated for switching at various control voltages: 6 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 3 A at 400 V. At 440 V it drops to 0.2 A. The contactor carries no built-in auxiliary switch (no auxiliary switch block pre-installed), so plan for a separate add-on block if you need feedback contacts.
The Size S00 frame means it fits in tight DIN-rail rows — common in pump panels, conveyor controls, and small machine cabinets.
