Panel fit and mounting
The 3RT2016-1AT61 is a Siemens SIRIUS power contactor in frame size S00, 45 mm wide and 58 mm tall, with a 73 mm depth behind the panel. It mounts via screw fixing or snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface and ±22.5° tilt forward or backward — useful when fitting into a crowded gland plate or a swing-frame sub-panel. Minimum clearances: 10 mm upwards, downwards, and forwards; 6 mm at the sides. Those numbers govern how tightly you can nest contactors in a multi-row enclosure without compromising arc quenching or heat dissipation.
Duty and switching frequency
This contactor is rated for different switching frequencies depending on the duty category. At AC-1 (resistive loads) it manages up to 1,000 operating cycles per hour. For AC-3 (squirrel-cage motor starting) and AC-3e the maximum is 750 cycles/h. AC-4 (plugging / inching) drops to 250 cycles/h. The arcing time sits between 10 and 15 ms at AC, and the make / break duration is 4 to 15 ms — both figures matter when coordinating with upstream short-circuit protection for selectivity. The auxiliary switch is present on this variant. Its rated current at 24 V is 10 A, at 48 V and 60 V it is 2 A, and at 110 V it is 1 A. At 230 V the auxiliary is rated 1 hp. These ratings define what pilot devices or PLC outputs the auxiliary can switch directly without an interposing relay.
Termination and wiring
The magnet coil terminates at screw-type terminals. Main contacts accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.5 to 4 mm², and the terminals can take two conductors per clamp: 2×(0.5…1.5 mm²), 2×(0.75…2.5 mm²), or 2×4 mm². That dual-conductor capacity simplifies daisy-chaining the line side without extra junction blocks. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C. The typical mechanical life of the contactor is 30 million operations.
