For AC-3 motor switching duty, the contactor is rated at 750 operations per hour maximum; AC-1 resistive load switching allows up to 1,000 ops/h. The AC-4 maximum is 250 ops/h, reflecting the heavier wear from inching and plugging duty. Arcing time spans 10 to 15 ms at AC, with a total break time of 4 to 15 ms. These figures matter for coordination with upstream protective devices — the arc clears fast enough to avoid nuisance fuse operation in most panel designs. Auxiliary switch is included as standard, simplifying interlocking or status feedback wiring without an add-on block.
Termination and Conductor Sizes
