What it is and where it goes
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2016-1AV02 is a size S00 power contactor with a 24 VDC magnet coil terminated at screw-type terminals. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, and the mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface plus ±22.5° tilt forward or backward. The auxiliary switch is built in. This is the core switching element for motor loads in control panels — think conveyors, pumps, fans — where a 24 VDC control signal commands the main contacts.
What the ratings mean for fit
The contactor is rated for AC-3 switching at 750 operations per hour maximum, which is the standard motor-switching duty cycle for starting and stopping a squirrel-cage induction motor under load. The AC-1 resistive rating goes to 1 000 ops/h, but the AC-3 limit is the one that governs real motor control. At 400 V rated value the main contacts carry 3 A — that places it in the light-duty motor branch, not a high-horsepower drive. The operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C, which covers most indoor panel environments but not a foundry floor or freezer without derating.
Panel integration notes
Dimensions are 45 mm wide, 58 mm high, 73 mm deep, which fits a standard S00 contactor slot on the DIN rail. Spacing requirements: 10 mm upward, 10 mm forward, 10 mm downward, 6 mm at the side — plan the gland plate and adjacent devices accordingly. Conductor cross-section accepts solid or stranded 0.5 to 4 mm², or two conductors per terminal (2x 0.5 to 1.5 mm², 2x 0.75 to 2.5 mm², 2x 4 mm²). Strip length and ferrule size follow the screw-terminal spec.
