What ships in the carton
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2016-1BB42-ZX95 is a Size S00 power contactor with a 24 VDC coil and screw-type terminals on both the coil and main contacts. An auxiliary switch is built in — no separate add-on to track. The contactor mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, and the mounting position allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface plus +/-22.5° tilt forward/backward. That means it fits a panel layout without fighting the orientation.
Panel fit and clearances
At 45 mm wide, 58 mm tall, and 73 mm deep, this contactor sits in a standard S00 footprint. Clearance requirements: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, and 6 mm at the side. That keeps the arc chamber vented and the terminals accessible for a screwdriver. Wire range accepts 0.5 to 4 mm² solid or stranded, and up to 2x 4 mm² or 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²) for paralleled feeds — no holes in the box for a terminal adapter.
Switching performance and duty cycles
Rated switching frequency varies by duty: 1 000 operations per hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750/h at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor start/run), and 250/h at AC-4 (plugging/inching). The AC-3e rating also sits at 750/h. Arcing time runs 10 to 15 ms, and the DC dropout is 7 to 13 ms — useful for coordinating with a PLC scan cycle. The auxiliary contact is rated 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 3 A at 400 V. That covers most control-voltage rails in a panel.
