SIRIUS S00 power contactor — 24 VDC coil, screw terminals
The Siemens 3RT2016-1BE42 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact S00 frame, with a 24 VDC magnet coil terminated via screw-type terminals. It mounts on 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, using either the screw-fastening or snap-on method, and fits a 45 mm wide footprint — standard for the S00 size across the SIRIUS family. The auxiliary contact block carries 10 A at 24 VDC, 2 A at 48 V and 60 VDC, and derates to 0.3 A at 220 VDC. For the commissioning engineer: the coil pick-up and drop-out timing sits in the 7–13 ms range at DC, with arcing time between 10–15 ms — consistent with a standard DC-operated contactor for control-panel duty.
Panel integration and wiring
The contactor accepts solid or stranded conductors from 0.5 to 4 mm², and can take two conductors per terminal in combinations like 2x (0.5–1.5 mm²) or 2x (0.75–2.5 mm²). The mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface, plus ±22.5° forward/backward tilt — useful when fitting into a crowded enclosure where the DIN rail orientation isn't perfectly vertical. Clearance requirements: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, and 6 mm at the side.
Operating conditions and switching rates
Rated for operation from -25 °C to +60 °C, with storage range from -55 °C to +80 °C. Maximum switching frequency depends on duty: 1,000 operations per hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750/h at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor starting/running), and 250/h at AC-4 (plugging/inching). The mechanical life is typical 30 million operations — a figure that matters for high-cycling applications like conveyor or pump control.
