Integrator's note: 3RT2016-1BW42
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2016-1BW42 is a size S00 power contactor — the smallest frame in the SIRIUS family, built for switching motor loads up to 3 kW at 400 V AC-3 duty. Coil is 48 VDC, screw-type terminals on both coil and main contacts. Integrated auxiliary switch (1 NO + 1 NC) is wired to the same terminal block, saving a separate aux block on the DIN rail.
Panel fit and mounting
Mounts on 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715 via the integrated snap-on clip, or screw-fixed through the base. Dimensions: 45 mm wide, 58 mm tall, 73 mm deep — fits standard S00 cutout in a 40 mm deep enclosure with clearance for wiring. Mounting position is flexible: +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface, plus +/-22.5° tilt forward/backward. Minimum clearance to adjacent components: 10 mm upward, 10 mm downward, 10 mm forward, 6 mm sideways.
Wiring and termination
Screw terminals accept solid or stranded wire from 0.5 to 4 mm² per clamp. For doubled conductors: 2x (0.5...1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75...2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm². Strip length follows standard screw-terminal practice — no special tooling required. Main contacts are 3-pole (3 NO), rated for 20 A at 400 V AC-3e.
Switching performance and duty cycles
Rated for 1,000 operations per hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750 ops/h at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor), and 250 ops/h at AC-4 (plugging/inching). Mechanical service life is 30 million operations typical. Switching times: DC coil pickup 7...13 ms, arcing time 10...15 ms.
