Panel fit and mounting
The 3RT2016-1CM27 is a size S00 power contactor from the Siemens SIRIUS family, designed for screw and snap-on mounting onto a 35 mm standard mounting rail per DIN EN 60715. At 45 mm wide, it occupies a single modular slot in a DIN-rail panel layout, with 117 mm depth to account for wiring clearance and arc chamber volume. Mounting position is flexible: the contactor can be rotated ±180° on a vertical mounting surface and tilted forward or backward by ±22.5°, which helps when routing cables in tight enclosures. Clearances required: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, and 6 mm at the side.
Coil and switching characteristics
The magnet coil is terminated with screw-type terminals, accepting solid or stranded conductors from 0.5 to 4 mm², or two conductors per terminal within specified combinations. Coil pickup time at AC is 7 to 13 ms, with arcing time of 10 to 15 ms — relevant for timing coordination in safety circuits or sequential start schemes. Maximum switching frequency varies by duty: 1,000 operations per hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750/h at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor starting and running), and 250/h at AC-4 (plugging/reversing). The AC-3e rating also caps at 750/h. These limits govern thermal rise in the contactor and should be respected in high-cycle applications like conveyor indexing or compressor cycling.
Auxiliary contact ratings and operating conditions
This variant ships without an auxiliary switch block, but the main contact ratings at various DC voltages are specified: 6 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 0.2 A at 440 V. These are the DC-13 (solenoid/electromagnetic load) ratings for the main contacts — useful when switching DC control loads directly. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C during operation, with storage from -55 to +80 °C. Mechanical endurance is rated at 10 million operating cycles typical.
