What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT2016-1CU07 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact size S00 frame, designed for switching motor loads in control panels. It mounts via screw and snap-on onto a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, so it integrates into standard panel layouts without extra bracketry. The coil is 24 VDC with screw-type terminals, and the main contacts are rated for switching at several voltage levels: 6 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 0.2 A at 440 V. At 230 V it carries a 1 hp motor load. These ratings define the actual load it can break — match your motor FLA against the appropriate voltage column. Mechanical switching frequency varies by duty: up to 1 000 cycles/hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750 cycles/hour at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor starting/running), and 250 cycles/hour at AC-4 (plugging/inching). For AC-3e the rate is also 750 cycles/hour. The arcing time is 10 to 15 ms at AC, and the contactor's typical mechanical life is 10 000 000 operations.
Mounting and wiring
Dimensions are 45 mm wide, 58 mm high, and 117 mm deep — a standard S00 footprint that fits alongside other S00 contactors and overload relays on the same DIN rail. Mounting position is flexible: +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface, and can be tilted forward/backward by +/-22.5°. Wire terminations accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.5 to 4 mm², with dual-wire capability: 2x (0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm². Clearance distances: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, and 6 mm at the side. No auxiliary switch is included on this variant — if you need aux contacts, order a separate side-mount block.
