Integrator's quick-fit note
The 3RT2016-2AP61 is a Siemens SIRIUS power contactor in the compact S00 frame — 45 mm wide, 70 mm tall, 73 mm deep. Coil is 24 VDC, terminated with spring-type terminals; main and auxiliary contacts use the same spring-cage style, accepting solid or stranded 0.5 to 4 mm² (2x per terminal). Rated for 10 A at 24 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 1 hp at 230 V. Mechanical life is 30,000,000 operations typical. Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715; mounting position allows ±180° rotation on vertical surfaces and ±22.5° tilt.
The AC-3 switching frequency of 750 operations per hour is the practical limit for motor starting under load; the AC-4 rating drops to 250 1/h for inching or plugging duty. Arcing time runs 10 to 15 ms at AC, so the contactor clears fast enough for most control schemes.
Panel clearance checklist
Allow 10 mm above, below, and in front of the contactor for air circulation and wiring access; 6 mm at the sides. The spring terminals accept 0.5 to 4 mm² solid or stranded, or 2x 0.5 to 4 mm². Coil is spring-type as well — no screwdriver needed for the coil connection.
