What it is and what it does
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2016-2BF41 is a Size S00 power contactor built for switching motor loads in industrial control panels. It carries a 110 V coil and terminates through spring-type terminals — no screwdriver needed for the power or control wiring, which saves time on panel assembly and maintenance callouts. Rated operating temperature spans -25 to +60 °C, with storage range from -55 to +80 °C, so it handles the thermal swings you see in unventilated enclosures near crushers or conveyors.
Mounting and clearances
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The contactor body measures 73 mm deep, 45 mm wide, 70 mm high — fits the standard S00 footprint. Clearance requirements: 10 mm upward, 10 mm forward, 10 mm downward, 6 mm to the side. Mounting position allows +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface and +/-22.5° tilt forward/backward, giving flexibility in tight cabinets.
Switching performance and auxiliary contacts
Rated switching frequencies vary by duty: AC-1 resistive loads up to 1000 cycles/hour, AC-2 and AC-3 motor loads up to 750 cycles/hour, and AC-4 (plugging/inching) up to 250 cycles/hour. The auxiliary switch is built in, rated at 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V or 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 3 A at 400 V — covers signal feedback to a PLC or status lamp without an add-on block. Arcing time is 10 to 15 ms; DC operating time is 7 to 13 ms. The coil holds at 110 V nominal, with an initial pick-up factor of 0.8 and a full-scale factor of 1.1 — meaning it pulls in reliably even if line voltage sags to 88 V.
