What it is and where it fits
The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2016-2CP04-3MA0 is a size S00 power contactor with spring-type terminals on the magnet coil, designed for snap-on mounting onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. It occupies a 45 mm wide footprint on the rail, 70 mm tall, 121 mm deep — a standard S00 envelope that drops into existing panel layouts without re-drilling. The coil is rated for 24 VDC; the contactor's DC switching capability covers 6 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 0.2 A at 440 V. These are the DC-1 resistive-load ratings — for inductive DC loads, derate further per the manufacturer's curve.
Switching frequency and thermal limits
Maximum operating cycles per hour depend on duty: 1 000 at AC-1 (resistive), 750 at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor start/run), 250 at AC-4 (plugging/inching). The AC-3e rating also caps at 750 cycles/h. For a conveyor or pump running continuous AC-3 duty, that 750 cycles/h ceiling means the contactor can handle about one start every 4.8 seconds — fine for most process lines, but not for high-repetition indexing stations. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C. The mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface and ±22.5° tilt forward/backward, so it fits in tight enclosures where the rail is not perfectly vertical.
Termination and wiring
Spring-type terminals on the magnet coil accept solid or stranded wire from 0.5 to 4 mm², and up to 2x (0.5 to 4 mm²) for paralleled conductors. The main contact terminals are screw-type, accepting 20 to 12 AWG. Clearance distances: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, 6 mm at the side — standard for S00, so no surprise when laying out adjacent devices.
