Integrator note — SIRIUS 3RT2016-2JB42 coupling contactor
The Siemens 3RT2016-2JB42 is a SIRIUS coupling contactor in the S00 frame — purpose-built for switching auxiliary or signal circuits where galvanic isolation between control and load is needed, not for heavy motor starting. The 24 VDC coil pulls in at 0.7 × rated and drops out reliably; spring-type terminals on both coil and main contacts accept 0.5–4 mm² solid or stranded, which is the typical range for control wiring up to 4 mm². The S00 footprint — 45 mm wide, 73 mm deep, 70 mm high — fits standard 35 mm DIN rail (DIN EN 60715) with screw or snap-on fastening. Mounting position is flexible: ±180° rotation on a vertical surface, plus ±22.5° forward/backward tilt. Clearances: 10 mm upward/downward/forward, 6 mm at the sides.
Ratings and what they mean for fit
The headline switching capacity is 10 A at 24 V — that's the resistive load rating at the coil voltage. For DC loads at higher voltages, the curve drops: 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 3 A at 400 V. There's also a 1 hp rating at 230 V, likely for single-phase motor loads. The arcing time is 10–15 ms, and the opening/closing time at DC is 38–65 ms. Mechanical life is 30 million operations typical. Operating frequency varies by duty: up to 1,000 cycles/hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750 at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor starting), and 250 at AC-4 (plugging/inching) (–,). The auxiliary switch is not fitted — this is a bare contactor, so add a separate auxiliary block if you need feedback.
DIN-rail integration
Mounts on 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715 via screw or snap-on. The S00 width of 45 mm is the narrowest in the SIRIUS contactor family.
