What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT2016-2QB41 is a SIRIUS coupling contactor in the S00 frame size, designed to switch loads in control panels where galvanic isolation or signal-level switching is needed between circuits. Its 24 VDC coil draws a holding current that drops out below the pick-up threshold, and the main contacts are rated at 10 A at 24 V — the figure that governs resistive load switching at that voltage. The spring-type terminals accept solid or stranded wire from 0.5 to 4 mm², so no ferrule is required for stranded conductors within that range.
Mounting and integration
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715. The S00 footprint — 45 mm wide, 70 mm high, 121 mm deep — fits standard panel layouts. Clearance requirements: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, 6 mm at the side. The mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface and can be tilted forward/backward by ±22.5° on a vertical surface, giving flexibility in tight enclosures.
Switching performance and operating conditions
Mechanical endurance is typical at 30,000,000 operations. Maximum switching frequency varies by duty: 1,000 cycles/hour at AC-1, 750 cycles/hour at AC-2, AC-3, and AC-3e, and 250 cycles/hour at AC-4. Arcing time is 10 to 15 ms, and the DC switching delay is 7 to 20 ms. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range is -55 to +80 °C.
