What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RT2016-2XB41-0LA2 is a SIRIUS power contactor in the compact S00 frame — 45 mm wide, 70 mm tall, 73 mm deep. It's built for switching motor loads in control panels and snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 50022, or you can screw-mount it. The coil is DC, rated 24 to 34 V, with spring-type terminals that accept solid wire from 0.5 up to 4 mm² depending on the termination (2x 0.5-1.5 mm², 2x 0.75-2.5 mm², or 2x 4 mm²). That spring-cage termination is a real time-saver on the panel wireman's bench — no screwdriver torque check, just strip and push. The contactor also carries an auxiliary switch block, so you can wire in a feedback signal to the PLC without adding a separate side-mount.
Mounting and clearances
Mounting position is flexible: ±180° rotation on a vertical surface, plus tilt forward/backward by ±22.5° on vertical, or standing on a horizontal surface. Keep at least 10 mm clearance upward, 10 mm forward, 10 mm downward, and 6 mm at the sides — that's the minimum to let heat rise and arc gases vent. The contactor's own arcing time runs 10 to 15 ms, and the DC coil dropout is 25 to 45 ms, so plan your control timing accordingly.
