The Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2016-2XB42-0LA2 is a Size S00 power contactor with a DC coil rated 24-34 V, drawing 2.3 A inrush peak and holding at 0.7 A initial value. Coil terminals are spring-type — strip 8 mm, no ferrule needed for solid 0.5-4 mm² or stranded 0.5-2.5 mm². The contactor mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail (EN 50022) and fits a 45 mm wide, 73 mm deep, 70 mm tall footprint. Clearance: 10 mm above/below, 6 mm sideways. This is a main power contactor — no auxiliary switch block included on this order code variant, though the frame accepts add-on blocks. The DC coil means it's intended for control circuits already running 24 VDC nominal; verify your PLC output card can sink the 2.3 A inrush if driving directly.
Mounting and clearances
Mounting position is flexible: +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface, +/-22.5° tilt forward/backward, or horizontal standing. Minimum air gaps: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, 6 mm at the side. Temperature range during operation is -40 to +70 °C; storage range -55 to +80 °C.
Switching performance
Arcing time is 10-15 ms; opening/closing times at DC are 25-45 ms. At AC-4 duty (frequent inching/plugging), the contactor handles up to 250 operations per hour. Mechanical life of the contactor is typically 30 million operations.
