What it is and what it fits
The Siemens 3RT2016-4BB42 is a SIRIUS S00 power contactor with a 24 VDC coil terminated via ring cable lug connection. It screws and snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, so it lands in any standard control panel enclosure without adapter plates. At 45 mm wide, 58 mm tall, and 73 mm deep, it occupies the S00 frame footprint — the smallest in the SIRIUS contactor family, sized for light motor and resistive loads where panel density matters.
What the ratings mean for your BOM line
The 24 VDC coil pulls in at 0.8 of rated voltage and holds across the full operating range of -25 to +60 °C. That 10 A at 24 VDC switching rating tells you it handles DC control circuits and small DC motors; the 7.6 A at 480 V and 9 A at 600 V cover common North American motor voltages for smaller three-phase loads. Mechanical life is typical 30 million operations. At AC-3 duty (standard motor switching) it's rated 750 operations per hour; at AC-4 (inching/plugging) that drops to 250 per hour. The arcing time of 10–15 ms and DC operate time of 7–13 ms are what you'd expect for a contactor this size — fast enough for most sequencing but not a high-speed DC switch. Clearance distances are tight: 10 mm upwards, forwards, and downwards, 6 mm at the side. That lets you pack S00 contactors on a DIN rail with minimal gap, but verify the arc flash boundary if you're grouping them without barriers.
Mounting and integration notes
Mounts on 35 mm DIN rail via the integrated snap-on latch, with screws as backup. The mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface and ±22.5° tilt forward/backward, so it fits odd panel orientations without derating. Coil connection is ring cable lug — not a spring-cage or screw-clamp terminal. Factor in the lug crimp tool and ring terminal size when wiring the panel; it's a solid connection but slower to terminate than push-in types.
