What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT2017-1AP02 is a SIRIUS power contactor in size S00, built for switching motor loads and resistive circuits. It is a current-production part. Rated for a 24 V DC coil, it pulls in at 10 A at 24 V rated value, and carries a solid switching frequency of 1 000 cycles per hour in AC-1 duty (resistive loads) and 750 cycles per hour in AC-3 (motor starting). That means it'll handle a conveyor start-stop cycle every 4.8 seconds in motor duty without overheating.
Mounting and wiring — what fits
Snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, or screws direct to the backplate. At 45 mm wide and 73 mm deep, it's a compact footprint — you can pack several side-by-side with 6 mm spacing between units. The mounting position is flexible: +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface, and it can tilt forward or backward by 22.5° if your panel layout is tight. Terminals are screw-type, accepting solid or stranded wire from 0.5 to 4 mm². You can double up two conductors per clamp — 2x (0.5...1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75...2.5 mm²), or 2x 4 mm². Strip length is straightforward, no special ferrule needed for solid wire.
Environment and auxiliaries
Operates from -25 to +60 °C, stores from -55 to +80 °C — fine for most indoor panel environments, but if it's riding next to a hot pump or motor on a lube route, keep an eye on the upper end of the operating range. Comes with an auxiliary switch built in, so you don't need a separate add-on block for basic status feedback. Arcing time runs 10 to 15 ms at AC, and the contactor is rated for 30 million typical mechanical cycles. That's a lot of starts before the springs wear out.
Sourcing and lifecycle
This is a current-production part — no end-of-life notice, no last-time-buy. It's sourced through independent distribution and quoted to order against an RFQ. Availability and current pricing are confirmed at quote time.
