What it is and where it fits
The Siemens 3RT2017-1AP02-ZX95 is a SIRIUS power contactor in size S00, built for switching motor loads and resistive circuits in industrial control panels. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, making it a straight drop into a standard panel layout. The coil is 24 V DC, terminated with screw-type terminals, and the main contacts carry a rated operational current of 10 A at 24 V. The contactor measures 45 mm wide by 73 mm deep by 58 mm high — a compact footprint that leaves room for auxiliary blocks or overload relays alongside it on the rail.
Ratings that matter for fit
Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C during operation, with storage from -55 to +80 °C. That covers most indoor panel environments; if the panel sits near a furnace or in a non-conditioned enclosure in a hot climate, check the top end. The contactor can be mounted in any orientation within ±180° rotation on a vertical surface, and tilted forward/backward by ±22.5°, which helps when routing wires in a crowded gland plate. Mechanical endurance is rated at 30 million operating cycles typical — that is the mechanical life, not the electrical life under load. The electrical switching frequency depends on the duty category: up to 1000 cycles/hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750 cycles/hour at AC-2 or AC-3 (motor starting/running), and 250 cycles/hour at AC-4 (plugging or inching). For a conveyor or pump running continuous AC-3 duty, the 750 cycles/hour ceiling is rarely a limit, but for a high-cycle indexing application it is the number to size against. Wire capacity: accepts solid or stranded conductors from 0.5 to 4 mm², with two conductors per terminal possible for daisy-chaining (2x 0.5…1.5 mm², 2x 0.75…2.5 mm², or 2x 4 mm²). That is standard for a size S00 contactor — no need for special ferrules or oversized lugs.
Clearance and arcing
Minimum clearances to adjacent metalwork or other devices: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, and 6 mm at the sides. The arcing time is 10 to 15 ms at AC, with a make duration of 4 to 15 ms at AC. Keep the side clearance tight at 6 mm; the vertical clearances give room for wiring ducts or auxiliary contact blocks without crowding the arc chamber.
