It uses screw-type terminals for the magnet coil and main circuit, and includes an auxiliary switch. Mechanical life is typical 30,000,000 operations. Switching frequency at AC-3 duty is 750 cycles/hour maximum; at AC-4 it drops to 250 cycles/hour. The arcing time spans 10 to 15 ms, and DC dropout timing is 7 to 13 ms.
The 3RT2017-1BM41 occupies a 45 mm wide DIN footprint with a depth of 73 mm and height of 58 mm. Wire sizes accepted: solid 0.5 to 4 mm², stranded 0.5 to 4 mm², and multiple conductors — 2×(0.5 to 1.5 mm²), 2×(0.75 to 2.5 mm²), or 2×4 mm².

Beyond the 10 A at 24 VDC rating, the contactor handles DC loads at higher voltages with derated current: 2 A at 48 V, 2 A at 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, and 3 A at 400 V. For AC motor loads at 230 V, it is rated 2 hp.
