Coupling contactor for signal isolation
The 3RT2017-1MB41-0KT0 is a SIRIUS coupling contactor — a compact, size S00 device whose primary job is to switch a control signal, not a motor load, though it can handle motor loads up to 2 hp at 230 V. The main contacts are rated for 20–12 A, and the contactor is mechanically rated for 30 million operations — a high endurance figure that suits applications where the contactor cycles frequently, such as in packaging machinery or conveyor controls where signal isolation is needed between a PLC output and a higher-current load.
Panel fit and mounting clearances
The contactor measures 45 mm wide, 73 mm deep, and 58 mm high. This flexibility simplifies daisy-chaining in control panels.
DC load switching and arcing behaviour
When switching DC loads, the arcing time is 5–20 ms for DC and 10–15 ms for AC — the longer DC arc time is typical and means the contactor must be derated for DC loads. These values are the maximum breaking capacity — exceeding them risks contact welding or failure to extinguish the arc. The switching rates are duty-cycle dependent: 1 000 operations/hour at AC-1, 750/h at AC-2, 750/h at AC-3, and 250/h at AC-4. The AC-3e rate is also 750/h. These rates define the maximum cycling frequency before the contactor overheats.
