What this contactor is and what it does
The Siemens 3RT2017-1SB41 is a SIRIUS coupling contactor in Size S00, designed for DC switching applications. The 24 VDC coil pulls in at 85 % of rated voltage (20.4 V) and holds reliably across the operating range. Screw-type terminals on the coil and main contacts simplify wiring in control panels. Rated for DC-1 and DC-3 load types, the contactor switches 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, and 0.3 A at 220 V. The arcing time of 10–15 ms and switching time of 5–20 ms are typical for DC interruption — plan for arc suppression on inductive loads. Mechanical life is rated at 30 million operations typical, with switching frequencies up to 1 000 cycles/hour at AC-1 and 750 cycles/hour at AC-3/AC-3e. For heavy AC-4 duty (inching/jogging) the maximum drops to 250 cycles/hour.
Panel integration and mounting
The 45 mm wide, 58 mm tall, 73 mm deep housing snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 60715, or can be screw-mounted. The mounting position allows ±180° rotation on a vertical surface and ±22.5° tilt forward/backward — useful for tight enclosures. Clearance: 10 mm above and below, 6 mm to the side. Wire range accepts solid or stranded 0.5–4 mm², or two conductors up to 1.5 mm² (solid) or 2.5 mm² (stranded). No auxiliary switch is fitted on this variant — if you need a mirror contact or signal feedback, order the version with built-in aux.
