What it is and where it fits
Siemens SIRIUS 3RT2017-1VB41 is a coupling contactor in size S00. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, with a 45 mm width and 73 mm depth.
Key ratings and what they mean for your panel
Coil rated at 24 VDC with pickup at 0.85 × rated and dropout at 1.85 × rated. Main contacts switch 10 A at 24 VDC, derating to 2 A at 48–60 VDC and 1 A at 110 VDC. For a 230 VAC motor load the contactor is rated 2 hp. That makes it a fit for small DC motors, solenoids, and resistive loads in the control voltage range, not for high-power AC motor starts — those need an AC-3 rated power contactor. Mechanical service life is 30 million operations typical, with maximum operating frequencies of 1000 cycles/hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750/h at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor start/run), and 250/h at AC-4 (plugging/inching). For high-cycle applications like pick-and-place or valve banks, stay under the AC-1 limit and the 750/h ceiling for motor duty. Wire range accepts 0.5–4 mm² solid or stranded, with two conductors per terminal up to 2×2.5 mm². Screw-type terminals on the coil and main contacts — no push-in or spring-cage, so factor in screwdriver torque time during panel build.
Mounting and clearance
Mounts in any orientation: ±180° rotation on a vertical surface, plus ±22.5° tilt forward/backward. Clearance to adjacent components: 10 mm upward, downward, and forward; 6 mm to the side. That 6 mm side gap is tighter than typical — adjacent contactors need that minimum to avoid magnetic interaction or heat buildup. Operates from -25 to +60 °C ambient, stores from -55 to +80 °C. No special derating needed for most control cabinet environments, but if the panel sits near a heat source or in direct sunlight, keep internal cabinet temp under 60 °C.
