Contactor selection for a 24 VDC control circuit
The coil is rated for 24 VDC nominal, and the main contacts carry auxiliary switching capability. The spring-type terminals accept 0.5 to 4 mm² solid or stranded wire, with dual-wire capacity up to 2x (0.5 to 4 mm²).
Switching frequency and duty cycle limits
The 3RT2017-2AD01 supports different maximum switching frequencies depending on the duty class: 1000 operations per hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750 ops/h at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor starting/running), and 250 ops/h at AC-4 (plugging/inching). The AC-3e rating also allows 750 ops/h. These limits define the thermal cycling capacity of the contactor — exceeding them risks accelerated contact wear or weld failure.
Auxiliary contact ratings across voltage levels
The auxiliary switch on this contactor carries specific current ratings that drop with voltage: 10 A at 24 V, 2 A at 48 V and 60 V, 1 A at 110 V, 0.9 A at 125 V, 0.3 A at 220 V, 3 A at 400 V, and 0.2 A at 440 V. At 230 V the rating is given as 2 hp, indicating motor load capability. These values govern the auxiliary contact's ability to switch control relays or PLC inputs without premature failure.
These clearances ensure adequate arc quenching and heat dissipation. The S00 frame size (70 mm height, 73 mm depth) fits standard 45 mm-wide DIN rail slots.
