Panel Fit and Mounting
The 3RT2017-2AP02 is a Size S00 power contactor from the Siemens SIRIUS family, measuring 45 mm wide by 70 mm high by 73 mm deep. It mounts via screw or snap-on onto 35 mm DIN rail per DIN EN 60715, with a +/-180° rotation possible on a vertical surface and +/-22.5° tilt forward or backward — useful when you're squeezing it into a crowded panel and need to orient the coil terminals toward the wiring duct. The spring-type terminals on the magnet coil accept solid or stranded wire from 0.5 to 4 mm², and you can double up two conductors of the same range per clamp. Clearance spacing: 10 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, 6 mm at the side — no surprises for a standard S00 layout.
Duty Cycle and Switching Life
This contactor is rated for different switching frequencies depending on the load category: 1,000 operations per hour at AC-1 (resistive), 750/h at AC-2 and AC-3 (motor starting/running), and 250/h at AC-4 (plugging/inching). The AC-3e rating also sits at 750/h. Typical mechanical life is 30 million operations — that's the contactor itself, not the contacts, which are rated for 20 to 12 million electrical operations depending on load. Arcing time runs 10 to 15 ms at AC, and the make/break times span 4 to 15 ms. Coil hold-in at 24 VDC nominal draws 0.25 A at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz. Operating temperature range is -25 to +60 °C; storage range extends from -55 to +80 °C.
